“First Response” from Justin-Siena High School

Posted by Jessica Pettyjohn on

A showcase of work by students for students; a framework for our youth to articulate their reaction to local fires, through their eyes.

Art can be purposeful in a collective grieving process, a tragedy is perceived in many different ways and at times expressed more clearly in a visual representation, when words are inadequate or less accessible. Tragedy can produce grief but also hope and gratitude for those who come to our rescue, or give us comfort, and through selfless generosity, reflect hope. Visual responses can help solidify an event in our memory.

High School Visual artists are invited to reflect and convey their experiences, observations and reactions to the North Bay Fires, in a 4 county call for submissions to Napa Valley Museum, Student Curated Art Show, First Response.
